Types of Curtain Lining

Linings can be used with any sheer or solid face fabric and add weight and fullness to the look of your curtains. They create a protective layer that faces the window and will be seen from the outside when the curtains are closed. Linings not only prolong the life of your curtains and other furnishings by protecting the contents of your home from harsh UV rays, but they also provide a multitude of thermal benefits to your home.

There are three main types of curtain lining available. Each type has its own features and benefits. All Filigree Linings have an Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) rating, with most achieving a rating of 50+, the maximum available.

Blockout Coated

Blockout coated linings have coating layers applied to the back of the fabric to provide superior thermal, light and noise insulation. They block over 99% of sunlight when curtains are closed and protect carpets and furniture from harmful UV rays.

Sunliner

Sunliner has a poly/cotton face with a dry look and a 4-pass blockout coating. Available in two neutral shades and varying widths to suit window sizes.

Thermoguard

Thermoguard has a polyester sanded face with a subtle sheen. This deluxe 4-pass blockout lining has the softest drape of all coated linings. Available in three neutral shades and multiple widths. Also available with Fire-Retardant finish and as Thermoguard Thermaldrape™ 1-pass for a lighter option.

Eclipse

Offers the softest drape blockout lining on the market with a UPF 50+ rating. Available in two neutral shades at 150cm wide.

Charlotte

A stiffened lining ideal for lined Roman blinds, providing the structure needed for the blind to sit nicely.

Coloured Lining

Coloured linings are increasingly popular for design-conscious homeowners. They allow a chosen colour to be visible from outside or to add dimension when layered behind sheer curtains for privacy and style. Our coloured blockout lining range includes:

Precision

A blockout coated lining with acrylic flock coating. Available in 23 colours from neutrals to charcoals. Precision is 300cm wide, with select shades also in 150cm and 320cm widths.

Simplicity

A silicone-coated coloured lining with all the same benefits — thermal, light, and noise insulation — plus it's machine washable. Available in the same 23 shades as Precision at 320cm wide; White, Off-White and Ivory also at 150cm.

Uncoated

Uncoated linings are lighter and allow some ambient light through while maintaining softness in drape. They’re machine washable if the face fabric is too.

Luxury Line Deluxe

A cotton-rich sateen lining, available in Off-White at 150cm and 300cm widths.

Ultra Lining

A cotton-poly blend fabric that’s versatile and uncoated. Available in Off-White at 300cm wide.

Interliner Deluxe

Used as an extra inner layer (aka bumph), this soft cotton flannel enhances thermal and noise insulation. Ideal for cold climates or high-noise areas.

Triple Weave

This innovative fabric has its blockout capability woven in, rather than applied. It features three layers: a face fabric, a black blockout layer, and a back fabric. Triple weave linings are inherently Fire Retardant, washable, mold-resistant, and suitable for humid environments.

Twilight

Twilight is 300cm wide and available in 15 fashionable neutral colours.
