Join us as we share with you our most beloved fabrics of 2023 at Basford Brands

Odin

We are not surprised that Odin has made our top fabrics of 2023 list! One of our most popular sheer fabrics was expanded by popular request in 2019 to incorporate 8 new exciting yarn dyed colours while still keeping all the great shades you came to love, and since then it has grown even more in popularity (if this was even possible!). The organic slubs of this fabric mimics all the most desirable features of a classic Linen sheer, with the undeniable ease of a Polyester which is why it remains a fan favourite for both our workrooms and our customers around Australasia.

Weylands Blockout

At number two we have our Weylands collection. A soft blockout fabric with an organic looking front that gives the effect of a linen fabric, with all the ease of polyester. The fabric is woven at 280cm, and can be used both up the roll and continuous, allowing for extra-wide curtains without seams. With interiors really pushing the boundaries on extra large and wide windows, a fabric like Weylands is the well-rounded sollution to this popular interior furnishing trend. The blockout coating achieves the highest rating of UPF50+ making it the safe choice for all domestic applications.

Kalani

Crafted with a sense of experiential depth, akin to a design-centric archive of botanical paintings comes Kalani, a striking solid drapery collection. Featuring a picturesque combination of photo-realistic floral and bird motif character fields, Kalani showcases a swoon-worthy story with artisan quality which lends an air of drama to the interior. The combination of dark and light foregrounds adds a sense of experiential depth and personality to the design, an intentional design cue of our in-house designer. Kalani was also strategically created to pair back beautifully with our Sayville plain collection. A marvelous pairing for any interior.

Pilbara

This year one of our most popular fabrics made the top list and we are not surprised. Pilbara has been a fan-favourite across Australasia since its' first release and ever since then we have continued to improve and expand its colourline inline with market trends. We believe the secret to this beautiful fabric is the smart blend of Polyester and Linen which gives it its stunning drape on the window, one of the many reasons home decorators around Australia and New Zealand choose this fabric. To top it all off Pilbara is also 300cm continuous which means it's great for XL windows! We expect to see great things come from Pilbara in the year ahead and we can't wait to see how this collection shape shifts into the 2024 interior design trends.

Abaca

Last, but not least, is Abaca - our gorgeous linen look, which in 2021 was extended to include a new range of trendy colourways. Famous for its’ soft luxurious drape, the thick and thin yarn create a natural slub effect and the advanced dye technique creates a marle across the new extensive colour line. Woven as a wide width fabric at 300cm it remains a perfect option for seam free curtains. Abaca has been tested to AS/NZS1530.2 and 3. Ever since we expanded the colourline Abaca has continued to fly off our shelves and into the home of interior decorator enthusiasts all around Australasia.
